11am Sunday Service
We start the service all together and there’s usually a children’s talk before they head off for their Sunday school activities; whether visitors or regular attenders, all children are welcome to join in.
Infants class; this is for children from age 3 and upwards. Junior class; Children move to juniors when they start year 3 at primary school.
Senior class; this is for older children starting secondary school, during some services these children stay in to listen to the service.
We also have a crèche available for babies and smaller children which you’re welcome to use at any point during the service. We’re keen to encourage a thoughtful quiet space in which to listen to the sermon and prayers.
All the children return to the main worship area in time for communion. St Luke’s welcomes everyone at the communion table and this includes children, if children put their hands out for bread they will be given some. If parents would prefer their children can receive a blessing instead.
We also offer gluten free bread for those with allergies.
St Luke’s runs a youth club every Sunday evening from 6-8pm . Children are welcome to join this once they’ve started secondary school.
The children’s choir regularly take part in the morning worship and they rehearse from 10.30-11am every Sunday morning. The choir is open to all children in year 2 at their primary schools.
At St Luke’s we take the safety of children and other vulnerable people very seriously. Sheena Cruse is our Safeguarding Officer, and Susie Holland is our Children’s Champion.
